Product Description
Common use

Kemadrin contains active ingredient procyclidine hydrochloride, which is anticholinergic type of medications. Anticholinergic drugs inhibit activity of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Kemadrin is used to treat the tremors, spasms, stiffness, and poor muscle control of Parkinson's disease.



Dosage and direction

Take exactly as prescribed, take each dose with a full glass of water and after a meal to avoid stomach upset. Do not take two doses at once. Usual intake schedule is three or four intakes a day.



Precautions

This medication may cause dizziness or blurred vision, be careful operating machinery, driving, and performing other hazardous activities or avoid them at all. Limit consummation of alcoholic beverages. Risk of heat stroke may increase if the patients treated by Kemadrin as this drug may cause decreased sweating while vigorous exercise or in hot weather. Before to take Kemadrin inform your doctor if you have an enlarged prostate or difficulty urinating, suffer from epilepsy or another seizure disorder, heart disease or any kind of arrhythmia, depression, any other psychiatric illness, kidney or liver disease.



Contraindications

Kemadrin is contraindicated in the patients with an allergic reaction to it, those who have narrow-angle glaucoma, an obstruction in the bowel or a complication of bowel disease (megacolon), myasthenia gravis.



Possible side effect

Stop taking this medication and contact your doctor immediately in case of the following side effects: an allergic reaction (facial swelling, hives, difficulty breathing), unusual fever, fast heartbeat or arrhythmia, loss of consciousness, mental confusion, anxiety, hallucinations, hyperactivity, agitation, disorientation, unusual behavior, seizures, eye pain, a rash.



Drug interaction

Inform your doctor about all prescribed and over-the-counter drugs you use including food supplements and vitamins and especially about tricyclic antidepressants such as clomipramine (Anafranil), amitriptyline (Elavil, Endep), doxepin (Sinequan); tricyclic antidepressants such as nortriptyline (Pamelor), protriptyline (Vivactil), amoxapine (Asendin), imipramine (Tofranil), desipramine (Norpramin); a phenothiazine, chlorpromazine (Thorazine), mesoridazine (Serentil), thioridazine (Mellaril), promazine (Sparine), fluphenazine (Prolixin), trifluoperazine (Stelazine), perphenazine (Trilafon); antihistamines including triprolidine (Actifed), chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton), clemastine (Tavist), brompheniramine (Dimetapp), diphenhydramine (Benadryl); quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinidex, Quinora, Cardioquin); amantadine (Symmetrel), haloperidol (Haldol), digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps).



Missed dose

If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember, but not if it is almost time of the next intake by your schedule. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time of your next dose. Do not try to compensate a missed dose by taking an extra one.



Overdose

You need immediate medical help if you experience the following signs of Kemadrin overdose: large pupils, flushed face; fever, warm, dry skin, dry mouth, fast heartbeat or arrhythmia, anxiety, mental confusion, hallucinations, agitation, hyperactivity, loss of consciousness, or seizures.



Storage

Store at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use after expiration term.
